RECOMMENDED ADHESIVES

All Mincey Marble cast marble products use the same basic materials to install them. You will need to refer to the appropriate installation instructions on the Installation Instructions tab to obtain the exact list of recommended materials to use, the correct application, amount, and placement of each, based on the requirements of each individual product.

FOR RENOVATION PROJECTS: If you are installing a new Mincey panel system over existing material, (tile, natural stone etc) make sure the walls (substrate and framing) are in good shape (no water damage, mold or mildew) and the existing surface is not badly broken. If this is the case, then clean the back of the panels with acetone, apply 100% Silicone INSTEAD of standard construction adhesive and adhere the panel directly over the top of the material. Brace the install with 1 x 4 or 1 x 2 scrap until dry, then install a thicker trim strip over the exposed edges. Seal the trim all the way to the floor.

Acetone – Use on all Mincey Marble products. Acetone is used to clean the back surfaces of the products prior to install. IMPORTANT – use Acetone only. Denatured alcohol or other water based cleaners are not acceptable. The cleaner the surface, the better the material will adhere.
Cast Marble Adhesive - Use with any Mincey Marble product. We recommend Industrial Grade quick grip. This product offers a thicker consistency and longer skin time combined with faster curing time. If using on panel systems, the panel should already be measured, cut, cleaned with acetone and dried before applying. Follow panel system installation instructions for amount to use, placement and bracing procedures. For panel systems and all Mincey Marble products, allow a minimum of 24 hours to dry. We here at Mincey, purchase our adhesive from Mincey Bathroom Installation. If you chose to do the same, you can reach them at 706.867.1700 or at www.minceybath.com or you can go direct to their site by clicking on the Color Matching Caulk, Silicone and Quick Grab Adhesive link above.
Caulk - Use with all Mincey Marble panel systems. We recommend latex, paintable, low VOC caulk. Use this in areas where the marble is adhering direct to the sheetrock. i.e. – panel systems to the sheetrock around a tub or a shower pan. If you chose to do the same, you can reach them at 706.867.1700 or at www.minceybath.com or you can go direct to their site by clicking on the Color Matching Caulk, Silicone and Quick Grab Adhesive link above.
Silicone - Use on Mincey Marble panel systems, shower pans and accessories where the Installation calls for one piece of cast marble to butt up to or touch another piece of cast marble. We recommend using 100% RTV Silicone. We here at Mincey, purchase our adhesive from Mincey Bathroom Installation. Hot Melt Glue - Use for additional support with Mincey Marble accessories. We recommend high temperature hot melt glue sticks. DO NOT use all-purpose glue sticks. They will not support the weight of cast marble. We here at Mincey, purchase our glue sticks from AIM Supply. If you choose to do the same, you can reach them at 800.999.0125 or www.aimsupply.com. Request P/N – BO 6390-15. This glue stick measures 15" x 1/2". If you’re going to purchase glue sticks from a supply store like Home Depot or Lowes, we recommend using Arrow Fastener’s 4" Super Strong Glue Sticks. Be aware however, these are not available at all store locations.
